Prayer is how we communicate with God, and it is an act of obedience as Colossians 4:2 says that we are to devote ourselves to prayer. Prayer is the single most humbling act in the world as it suggests that whatever it is that we are petitioning or thanking God for is far beyond our grasp of authority. Not only is prayer humbling, but it also displays a beautiful picture of faith, for we are dependent on a God in whom we cannot physically see but confident that He hears us. Prayer presupposes an answer wherewith we shall be content with, for we have embraced the omnipotence and sovereignty of God. Prayer is essential to the life of the believer. Thus Jesus says in Luke 18:1 that “Man ought always pray and faint not.”
